TEMPEH BACON
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Yield: 10 strips
1 pack (8 ounces) tempeh
1-teaspoon oil
2-tablespoons soy sauce
2-tablespoons maple syrup
2-tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1-teaspoon garlic salt
2-tablespoons nutritional yeast
½-cups water
In a bowl whisk together all the ingredients except for the
tempeh.
Cut the tempeh into ¼-inch strips.
Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet, over medium high heat; place
the tempeh and brown on each side.
Pour the liquid spice mix over the tempeh, bring to a boil,
and simmer until almost all the liquid is evaporated. Remove from pan.
Use the tempeh in sandwiches with mustard or in a TLT (tempeh,
lettuce, and tomato sandwich).
